CCT Community Centre

The Community Centre, located behind the shop, functions as a drop-in centre for Battambang's street kids, where they can take part in literacy classes, vocational training, various cultural activities and mentoring programs.

The street kids who attend our Community Centre have access to safe bathroom, shower and laundry facilities,  clean drinking water and healthy meals. We assist them with the challenges extreme poverty raises; health and hygiene concerns, family breakdowns and drug abuse , or even simply needing a pair of shoes.

The street kids who participate in our Khmer Art classes also make greetings cards, which are sold in the shop, with the artist receiving a commission from every sale. This source of income reduces the need for some of the kids to collect trash, beg, or steal to survive. It also gives them more time for studying at the centre and, crucially, helps cultivate a sense of self worth and confidence to make positive life choices.

A number of CCT's older girls and women from CCT’s family projects are undertaking sewing classes as part of our vocational training program. They're beginning to develop products and designs to sell in the shop, such as bags and clothes. Expect to see their products hit the shelves, as soon as their training is complete!
