CCT + 6 and a film crew...

August 2009

August has been a busy Month at CCT! The ABC's Australian Story was in Battambang for a week filming a program on CCT. It was a very busy week but the Australian Story crew were great and the kids, staff and I enjoyed ourselves a lot. We're really looking forward to seeing the final product.

The other exciting piece of news at CCT this month is the arrival or six new children. Siumay, May, Kai, Bisay, Bisal and Mom were all orphaned when their parents died from HIV/Aids and were living in extremely difficult circumstances. Mom is 22 years old and has been the carer of her 5 younger siblings. Thanks to our Transition House Project we are able to accept Mom, as well as the younger kids, and avoid breaking up a very tight-knit family. Mom is completely illiterate, having never attended a day of school in her life. At the Transition House, Mom will now have the opportunity to learn to read and write, receive vocational training and stay close to her younger siblings at CCT.

All six are settling into CCT very well and continually exclaim how happy they now are.

These five kids and Mom are requiring Foster Parents to support their needs. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Foster Parent, please contact us.
