Sineit and Huni's Wedding - 6th of November
Sineit Chan and her fiancé, Huni, were married at CCT on Saturday the 6th of November. It was a beautiful ceremony and a very happy day for all of us at CCT.
They have now moved into their own home and are looking forward to starting a family.

News on Gontia Sok.
Gontia’s one of the most sweet-natured and popular girls at CCT. A shy girl, now 17, she has survived an incredibly sad and unfair life.
In 2009, Gontia found refuge at CCT. But it wasn't long before she fell ill. Gontia suffers a rare congenital blood disorder. It's an incurable and life-threatening condition, which has had Gontia in and out of international hospitals, both in Phnom Penh and Bangkok, where she has received countless blood transfusions and courses of steroids. These trips to hospital are becoming more frequent. We have already spent a very large amount in medical expenses and there are more bills on the way. We are aiming to set up a fund to cover her past and future medical expenses.
Gontia is brave and uncomplaining but understandably terrified. She deserves the best. We ask for any help you can offer to in continuing to provide her with the best treatment possible. If you are able to donate towards the cost of Gontia’s treatment, please do so here and email us at: info@cambodianchildrenstrust.org
UPDATE: She is currently in ICU at Sen Sok International University Hospital in Phnom Penh fighting for her life with Pneumonia and a Pericardial effusion, a serious complication with autoimmune blood disorders.
UPDATE 11/10/11: Congratulations to the doctors at Sen Sok International University Hospital whose treatment has, once again, saved Gontia's life. Gontia is now recovering and has been allowed to go home. We're relieved Gontia is feeling better but, at the same time, are very concerned at the speed at which her condition is deteriorating, with bouts of serious illness becoming more frequent. We're extremely grateful to all those who contributed towards her recent medical bills but the expenses are ongoing and more funds are desperately needed for her continued treatment. If you're able to help, or for more information, please contact us - info@cambodianchildrenstrust.org

CCT's New Computer Skills Program
In Cambodia, underprivileged people seldom have the opportunity to learn computer skills. CCT aims to provide children with the best education possible, and so we are pleased to announce the donation of our new Computer Lab and the establishment of our Computer Skills Program. Since the beginning of April 2011, all of the children and many of the staff are now having lessons 5 days a week, learning the basics of computer use, word processing and typing. In the future they will develop skills in internet research, and the use of programs such as Excel, which will aid them in the future when they go on to tertiary education, employment or running their own small businesses.
We welcome our full-time computer teacher, Banya, to the CCT team. Banya is extremely passionate about working with CCT to improve the possible life-choices available to the children and young people here.
NEW Survival Swimming Program
In memory of Jendar Heng, CCT has begun an ongoing survival swimming program. The inaugural swim camp, held in February/March 2011, was a great success and life-changing experience for all involved.

AFIRE Visits CCT
This month CCT was excited to receive a visit from AFIRE. AFIRE is an Australian NGO currently working with the Cambodian National Police to develop the fire service in Cambodia. They run a number of projects each year bringing volunteers from Australia to train firefighters throughout Cambodia.
Six volunteer firefighters from Australia and two Khmer firefighters taught the CCT kids everything they need to know about fire safety and what to do if ever caught in a fire. They practiced how to stop, drop, cover eyes and roll with the firefighters and at the end of the fire safety demonstration one of the Khmer firefighters showed the kids their new fire proof suit donated by the team from Australia.
It was a fun-filled, educational experience for all involved.

Welcome to Juey Bazaar - the CCT shop
CCT is making it’s mark on the landscape of down town Battambang and opening the CCT shop! Juey Bazaar will generate income to improve the sustainability of CCT and reduce donor dependency. Juey Bazaar will provide practical training opportunities for the young adults in our Transition House Project and for the families we support in the community. Some of the products will be made and produced by our children and community families, the sale of which will benefit our families so their children can go to school instead of working and begging on the streets. All the proceeds go towards supporting the Community Development Program.
The CCT girls kick goals for International Women's Day
On March 8th, the CCT girls gave it all they've got in the Battambang All Girls Soccer Tournament in recognition of International Women's Day! The CCT staff and all the CCT boys were there to cheer the girls on from the sidelines.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on the 8th of March across the world. IWD is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.
AIM FOR KIDS
On behalf of all of us at CCT we'd like to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who attended the AIM For Kids event on November 18th and to all the dedicated volunteers who made the night possible.
The night was a huge success. We'll be announcing the total amount raised soon.
The kids and staff had a great time watching the live show. It was definitely a night to be remembered.
